What is GATE ?
Our District provides a flexible
system of program options to gifted and talented students based
on their needs, interests, and abilities.
Honors, advanced standing, and advanced
placement courses are available on all campuses and GATE students
are cluster-grouped.
District-wide enrichment activities
are offered during and after school, in the evenings, school holidays
and on weekends to broaden student knowledge of a specific field,
encourage students to meet others, provide time for discussions
in subject matter not covered in the classroom, and explore future
education and career opportunities.
GATE candidates are identified by
teachers, counselors, parents, and on-site-coordinators as gifted
and talented in one or more of six categories:
- intellectual ability
- creative ability
- specific academic ability
- leadership ability
- high achievement
- outstanding talent in visual and performing arts
