Summer Enrichment: Introduction to Entrepreneurship- Description
- Students will work in teams to identify business needs, create a company to address those needs, do business and industry research, form a business plan, and make presentations. Students will develop a sense of confidence, maturity, motivation and responsibility. They will learn how to lead, work cooperatively, and how to follow in a group environment. All teams will write and present a business plan for their product. This year’s program has added field experiences to enhance the design and innovation of the students.
The curriculum of this fast paced motivational course will be highly structured to keep the students focused and moving towards their goal of business and product development. The curriculum of the course has been designed to integrate business theory and practice with student creativity and imagination enhanced by hands-on experience. The student teams will meet each day to interact, analyze research, and reflect upon their progress.
Field trips include:
- Academy of Art: To study Game and Web design
- AutoDesk Showroom: To study engineering design
- TechShop: To study manufacturing technology and 3-D printing
- Draper University: To tour the only independent school of entrepreneurship.
- Stanford Graduate School of Business
NOTE: Students will meet at the Burlingame Public Library during class times (Room to be announced later). This class has a lunch period. Please bring your own lunch. Registration fee includes the cost of field trips.
