Summer Enrichment: Introduction to Computer Science in Python- Description
- This course is designed to teach you the fundamentals of problem solving and algorithm development in computer science. We will use the Python programming language, which is good for new programmers and helps set the foundation for future language development.
You will learn the main principles of computer science, such as variables, data types, lists, conditional and iterative control structures, and Boolean logic. This is a fast paced introductory course meant to expose you to the basic tools of programming in Python. You will use these tools to complete a variety of projects and assignments. Most of the work will be done in class, but you may be expected to finish up some coding at home.
Learning computer science is very different from many other subjects; it requires a fair amount of persistence. As you learn, you will get stuck and make lots of mistakes, and you have to learn to be patient, persistent, inquisitive, creative, and most importantly, be willing to put forth your best effort. If you do, you will learn a lot, and have a lot of fun.
NOTE: This class has no lunch period.
