Summer Enrichment: Introduction to Java Programming- Description
- This course is designed to teach you the fundamentals of problem solving and algorithm development. This course will be taught using the Java programming language. Java is the language used for the AP Computer Science test. This class will give you a solid preview if you are planning to take that course in the future.
You will learn the main principles of object-oriented software design and programming: classes and objects, constructors, methods, variables, inheritance, arrays, conditional and iterative control structures and Boolean logic. This is a fast paced introductory course meant to expose you to the basic tools of programming in Java. You will use these tools to program a variety of projects and assignments. Most of the work will be done in class, but you may be expected to finish up some coding at home. Learning computer science is very different from many other subjects; it requires a fair amount of grit. There is a lot of trial-and-error, and you have to learn to be patient, persistent, and inquisitive, and most importantly – be willing to put forth your best effort and have fun!
Note: Class does not have a lunch period.
