Summer Enrichment: Essentials of 3D Modeling and Animation- Description
- This is the first of two 3D Game Art and Design courses. The second course is called Game Development in UNITY which is offered the following week (July 22-July 26) if you'd like to take both courses which complement each other.
The two 3D Game Art and Design courses are week-long introductions into the artistic and computer related skills necessary for creating 3D Video Games. The objective is to teach students the basics of some powerful tools, so that they will have the know how to make use of readily available online resources to continue their learning. This course consists of two separate week long courses; the first is 3D Modeling and Animation, in which we will focus on making 3D models in MAYA and understanding the basics of making animations and textures for 3D models ad environments.
The second week focuses on creating actual game levels. For game development, we use UNITY. Throughout week two, we will explore several different game genres, and students will make simple games and learn the fundamentals of UNITY. The 3D modeling software and game engine are both available as ongoing trials to students. The course makes use of instructional videos, demonstrations, and step by step demonstration lead and follow.
Note: Class does not have a lunch period. However, there will be two 15 minutes breaks.
